Cupping

Cupping TechniqueCupping is an ancient healing modality that has been shown to be a safe and effective way to treat many conditions.  Its earliest roots have been traced to Ancient Egypt and Asia.  Cupping is a type of negative pressure massage where suction is created on the skin.  A suction is created by placing a cup on the skin and drawing the skin into the cup and air out of the cup.  This kind of cupping is called dry cupping and is what Simo Massage Therapy uses during treatment sessions.

Simo Massage Therapy uses three cupping techniques:

Static cupping is when the cup is left on the body for a determined amount of time.

Flash cupping
, is a style of cupping where the cups are quickly applied and removed. This technique is effective for improving circulation.

Sliding or myofascial cupping
is used by applying oil and using silicone cups with light or medium pressure is to affect the underlying soft tissues such as the muscles, fascia, and tendons. It’s like receiving a massage, but with cups.
